23. Barbeque pork, Hong Kong

This honey-coated meat is sweet, tender and it goes well with everything -- rice, noodles or even by itself.
Ask for the half-fat, half-lean barbecue pork to really indulge in this delicacy.
I can try to convert you by saying the roast pork is extremely juicy, the duck skins crispy and shiny. And the bbq pork is sweet and just a little bit charred for sweetness (burnt food is bad, read: cancer food, but damn it tastes good and it is BBQ).

20. Fried chicken, United States

Fried chicken is one of those dishes for which everyone has a different recipe.  Most bread it, but some batter it, some deep fry the chicken while others panfry it.  Breading can range from simple flour, to cracker meal to bread crumbs or any other type of breading.  And of course there is the fat or oil it is cooked in.  Lard, shortening, vegetable oil, and bacon fat are all used, as well as various other fats.
Fried chicken is nothing new. Many cultures, around the world, have been cooking chickens by breading and frying them for centuries, but it is in the southern United States where frying chicken has been elevated to an art form
While fried chicken traces its origins to the South, innovative chefs across the country understand the innate appeal of the homey, crunchy, juicy dish.

16. Neapolitan pizza, Italy

When it comes to pizza, arguably Italy’s most popular culinary export, Italians tolerate and even enjoy a wide range of varieties and baking styles, but they all agree on one thing: The “real thing” is Neapolitan pizza.
The best pizza was and still is the simple Neapolitan, an invention now protected by its own trade association that insists on sea salt, high-grade wheat flour, the use of only three types of fresh tomatoes, hand-rolled dough and the strict use of a wood-fired oven, among other quality stipulations.
With just a few ingredients -- dough, tomatoes, olive oil, salt and basil (the marinara pizza does not even contain cheese) -- the Neapolitans created a best food that few make properly, but everyone enjoys thoroughly.

15. Moo nam tok, Thailand

Grilled pork combined with lemon juice, green onions, chili, mint sprigs, fish sauce and toasted rice. Legend has it the blood from the meat along with the dressing inspired some happy carnivore to name this brilliant dish “waterfall (nam tok moo) meat.” Similar to Larp, this is another Northern Thai classic so that means it is very tasty but also very spicy. Ideally the pork would be grilled over charcoal to achieve the gorgeous smoky flavour however this is often difficult to achieve in a commercial kitchen (and at home). I really don't know whether the chef at SaVers uses a charcoal grill but I certainly enjoyed the flavour of this grilled pork and the jim jaew dressing was a wonderfully tangy and spicy accompaniment.

14. Potato chips, United States

What better moment for PepsiCo to highlight the snack achievements and potential of its potato-chip brands and products not only in the United States but around the world?
Despite major criticisms suggesting that potato chips aren't real food, voters like Deepti Ravi believe that they "rock."

What started as a chef's trick on a fussy diner is now one of the world’s most child-friendly foods. But think of them this way -- if a single chip cost, say, US$5, it’d be a far greater (and more popular) delicacy than caviar, a prize worth fighting wars over.
